April PPMLS Publish, Email Issues    04/06/2006

 PPAR.com Mailboxes will be Discontinued:
Approximately 18 months ago, at the request of PPAR Members, all spam filters were removed from all email sent to ppar.com mailboxes.

In the months since then, the amount of spam sent to ppar.com has skyrocketed exponentially. Most ppar.com mailboxes are also auto-forwarded to other email addresses.  As a result, other ISP's, including AOL, are complaining about the volume of spam email coming from ppar.com mailboxes.  Our ISP has threatened to blacklist ppar.com immediately if we do not take steps to curb "spam" email coming from ppar.com.  To prevent disruption of email services between ppar.com and other ISP's, certain Spam tests are now activated again on all ppar.com mailboxes.  If a message fails to zero out many of these DNS tests, the message will be deleted and not processed.  We are not implementing any new keyword checking -- where messages are deleted based upon words or phrases in the email message.

Now only 5% of PPAR members currently use the ppar.com mailbox, and most of them forward it to another email account.

So in addition to re-implementing certain Spam tests now, PPAR will completely discontinue email service under the ppar.com domain name.  Please be advised that as of  Wednesday, July 5, 2006, all email addresses at all ppar.com email boxes will be deleted.

If you are using a ppar.com email address for your Tempo PPMLS System email, be sure that you delete or change it prior to July 5, 2006.

PPAR will continue to communicate with each of our members at your ppar.net email address. The ppar.net mailboxes will continue in their "locked-down" state, where they will only accept email that originates from the PPAR Office Building or the PPMLS Tempo system.

Sending Virtual Tours to PPMLS:
The PPAR email servers are configured to not accept email that originates from an “unregistered” email server.  Often an indication of this situation is when email is sent “on behalf of” someone.  We have seen instances where venders attempt to send virtual tours to PPMLS “on behalf of” their broker clients.   Please note that the PPAR email servers cannot accept email that originates from an unregistered server.  The server must be a Fully Qualified server in Internet DNS.

El Paso County Taxes:
Taxes for 2005 have been updated in Realist Tempo PPMLS.

Input Worksheet Changes (June 5,2006):
The RSC Board of Directors formed an Input Worksheet Task Force to review the forms for all eight listing categories in the PPMLS Tempo system, and to make recommendations to update the forms to reflect how business is conducted today.

  • RSC Input Worksheet Task Force met from November 2004 – March 2005.
  • The recommendations were reviewed and approved by the RSC.
  • Recommendations were posted on the PPAR website for member review and feedback in September 2005.
  • The recommended changes are tentatively scheduled for implementation in the April 25, 2006 “publish”.
  • Revised input worksheets will be available the afternoon prior to the April 25 publish.  Worksheets will be posted under “Quick Links” at members.ppar.com.
  • In conjunction with the publish, the PPMLS Tempo views and printouts will be updated to reflect the changes.
  • If you have Prospects that have as part of their criteria data fields that will be changed or deleted as part of the publish, after the publish you will need to update those Prospects to ensure that your clients get the listings that match their needs, based on the revised input worksheets.
    • For example, Floor Plan:Modular-UBC will be changed to Structure:UBC/IBC Standard Modular.  If you currently have a Prospect set up for Floor Plan:Modular-UBC, this search criteria will be dropped from your Prospect when the new changes are installed.  After the publish, it will therefore be necessary for you to revise your Prospect so that it contains Structure:  UBC/IBC Standard Modular so that your client will receive matching listings that reflect their need.

Special Note:  The Add/Edit module will be off-line for a period of time while the new data files and tables are installed.  Therefore, the ability to add or edit listings, upload photos or other media will not be available during this time; possibly late afternoon of April 24th up until noon on April 25th.  The exact dates and times will be disseminated in a PPMLS Update, and on the PPMLS Tempo system login page as we get closer to the April 25 publish.
